Uptown Marion Main Streets is asking residents to fill out a short online survey that will be used in guiding programs to improve the Uptown District. In conjunction with Main Street Iowa the survey is part of a Downtown Market Study & Strategies Project that will focus on the needs and wants of the community to preserve and improve Marion’s historic commercial core.

“We’re excited to be a part of Main Street Iowa’s program this year and to have some direction on what the community would like to see happen here,” said Uptown director Brooke Prouty, “Some of the award winning projects and events here in Marion came from community input survey’s such as this.”

The results will be used to help local leaders better understand the current conditions and to develop strategies to move the community forward in a more focused approach. The main goals of the program are to better understand what’s happening in the local market, how to promote the district’s defining assets to support the buy-local experience, and identify product and service lines that might provide opportunities for expansion.

The survey will be available online through August 30th. The survey is being conducted anonymously and all responses are confidential.
