It is with much sadness that we’re announcing major changes to our festival season. However, we want our community to know that we are reworking our events to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our community. This is our top priority, and we will continue to follow all City of Iowa City and State of Iowa public health directives.
Summer of the Arts is doing its part to flatten the curve by cancelling and modifying some of our beloved programming. We are sad to be making these announcements just as we usually kick into high gear.
Here are the changes we are making in light of COVID-19:
- We are cancelling our May Friday Night Concert Series performances. We will try to accommodate these performers by rescheduling at a later time.
- We are cancelling the Iowa Arts Festival scheduled for June 5-7. We are looking at creative ways to incorporate some of your favorite parts of the Iowa Arts Festival into events later in the summer.
- We are researching changes for our June Friday Night Concerts, Northside Concert and Free Movie Series. We are working on ways to share some virtual concerts and hope to reschedule the movies for later in the year.
Along with these changes, we are still trying to be optimistic about holding the Soul & Blues Festival July 31-August 1. We have a great line-up planned and hope we’ll be able to get together then.
