The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance’s Annual Meeting, Celebration of the Arts, will be held on Tuesday, November 12, at Usher’s Ferry Lodge. The annual meeting, luncheon, and award ceremony will feature a keynote presentation by Katie Roche, development director for the Englert Theatre, and Nina Lohman, executive team member for Strengthen Grow Evolve, discussing the recent collaborative effort between The Englert Theatre and FilmScene: Strengthen Grow Evolve.
Celebration of the Arts is not possible without the generous support of our Media Sponsor, The Gazette, and the Larry Eckholt Award sponsor, Think Iowa City. We also want to thank our Event Sponsors: Hills Bank, MidAmerican Energy, the University of Iowa Division of Performing Arts, and GreenState Credit Union.
“ICCA’s longstanding mission of serving the cultural organizations in the corridor never shines brighter than at the annual Celebration of the Arts. We are pleased to present this year’s awards to deserving groups and individuals who are sharing their talents and passions to bring great things to our community. Additionally, we’re thrilled to be sharing some exciting news about the future of ICCA at the annual meeting. As I mentioned at last year’s meeting, it is our belief that ICCA can do much more to meet the ever-changing needs of our membership, and we’ll present a promising opportunity to do so at this year’s annual meeting.” – Logan Schultz, President of the ICCA Board of Directors
ICCA’s Annual Awards will be presented to local outstanding organizations and cultural advocates. Tickets are still on sale.
The Collaboration Award recognizes two or more ICCA Partner organizations that work together on a project or program. Partners nominate themselves and other partners and then vote for this award. This year, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre were chosen for their collaborative project “The Grant Wood Operas.”
The Reaching Out Award recognizes an ICCA Partner working with non-partner organizations on projects or programs. Partners nominate themselves and other partners and then vote for this award. This year, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library and the Cedar Rapids Community School District were chosen with their reaching out partners Alburnett School District, Atlas EPS, Carpenters’ Union Local 308, Dave Schmitt Construction, Found + Formed, Lion Bridge Brewing Company, M2B Structural Engineering, Neumann Monson Architects, North Liberty Transportation, Terracon, and Thew Brewing for all working together on the project “Revolution Starts in the Streets.”
The Larry Eckholt Award, sponsored by Think Iowa City, will be presented to Leslie Nolte of Nolte Academy. The Peggy Whitworth Award will be presented to Daniel Kleinknecht of the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre. These two annual awards recognize cultural advocates for their commitment to the Corridor’s arts and culture community. Nominations come from ICCA Partners and the ICCA Board of Directors selects the winners.
A lunch buffet will be catered by Dostal Catering. Seating is open. Plan to arrive by 11:00 AM, doors open at 11:15 AM, and the program begins promptly at 11:30 AM.
