The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMA) is pleased to announce that its Free Summer Accessibility Program welcomed 8,998 visitors to the Museum between July 2 and September 1, 2019. For the past ten years, with the help of generous corporate sponsors, the CRMA has been able to suspend admission fees for all visitors for two months during the summer. The CRMA wishes to thank this year’s sponsors: Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust, Transamerica, TrueNorth, and UFG Insurance.
“We are thrilled with the continued success of this program,” says Executive Director Sean Ulmer. “We see many people who might not otherwise be able to visit the Museum and we are pleased to share with them our rich collections and engaging temporary exhibitions.” This year, the CRMA welcomed visitors from 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 16 foreign countries during July and August. “Many people in Cedar Rapids recognize what a great art museum we have here, but I bet most people do not know how many visitors we attract to Cedar Rapids,” says Ulmer. “These visitors come to the Museum, visit other attractions, dine here, sleep here, and shop here. We are happy to be a part of the economic success of the local community.”
The mission of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is to excite, engage, and educate through the arts. The Museum’s collection contains more than 7,800 works of art by hundreds of artists, including the world’s largest collection of works by Grant Wood. The collection is too comprehensive to be displayed all at once. That means chances are good that you’ll see different, breathtaking pieces each time you visit!
