We’re one month out from the festival

Join us at Reds this Thursday

Event fans, sponsors and volunteers are invited to drop by Reds Alehouse’s patio this Thursday between 5-7 p.m. for our one month out celebration featuring The Tanya English Band!

Attendees will have the chance to visit with Blues & BBQ committee members and other guests, sign up for a volunteer shift and win door prizes. Volunteers of the July festival (those already on our list and those who sign up at the patio party) will score a half-price drink ticket that can be redeemed at Reds that night or any other night. Shifts are available online.

Happy hour (2 for 1 drinks!) runs until 6 p.m., and then pre-party attendees will have access to $3 Big Grove taps until 7 p.m.

Join the Patio Pre-Party for Blues & BBQ event on Facebook.

Make the festival happen

Sign Up to Volunteer

It takes a volunteer force to put on this all-ages, family-friendly party, and we’re still recruiting for over 200 shifts. Our greatest need is helping kids at the inflatables, keeping the park clean on our Eco-Team and monitoring the 5K and 10K routes.

It’s easy to sign up for a volunteer role and the shift that works best for you. Shifts are two to three hours, and we need help from set up to tear down. Signup is easy through our website.

What are the perks of volunteering for North Liberty Blues & BBQ?

  • A special Blues & BBQ T-shirt for volunteers only
  • A voucher to be used towards food or for a complimentary beverage
  • Free water during all volunteer shifts (and delivered to you, too!)
  • A goodie bag with cool things from our sponsors
  • Community service hours credit

We also have fundraising opportunities available for groups of 10 or more.

Shemekia Copeland Headlines July 13

Shemekia Copeland will perform on the University of Iowa Community Credit Union stage at 9 p.m., capping a lineup of exciting live blues and blues-inspired music programmed in partnership with The Englert Theatre.

Entry to the festival, in Centennial Park, 1565 St. Andrews Drive, North Liberty, including live music, remains free.

Copeland has performed thousands of gigs at clubs, festivals and concert halls all over the world and has appeared on national television, NPR, and in newspapers, films and magazines.

She’s sung with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, Carlos Santana, James Cotton and many others. She opened for The Rolling Stones and entertained U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait. Jeff Beck calls her “amazing.” Santana says, “She’s incandescent…a diamond.” In 2012, she performed with B.B. King, Mick Jagger, Buddy Guy, Trombone Shorty, Gary Clark, Jr. and others at the White House.

Also playing at this year’s festival are Southern Culture on the Skids, Gloria Hardiman & The Monday Night All-Stars, Kevin Burt, Joe & Vicki Price and Brian Johannesen. View the full lineup.
