City Circle Theatre Company of Coralville will hold auditions for Evita on Friday, November 15, 7:00–10:00 pm and Saturday, November 16, 4:30–7:30 pm at the Community of Christ Church, 2121 S. Ridge Dr. in Coralville. Callbacks will be held Sunday, November 17, 3:00–6:00 pm in Schwab Auditorium in the Coralville Public Library, 1401 5th St. in Coralville.
This production directed by Chris Okiishi with music direction by Jessica Palmer will feature all of the music and dialogue from the show in a concert presentation with full orchestra on stage. To highlight the many facets of Eva Peron, we will be casting several actresses to play Evita over the course of her life. Casting will be done “opera style” focusing on the match of the voice to the song and strength of acting choices over physical type, age, and ethnicity.
Women interested in auditioning for Eva should prepare a one-minute cutting of a song from the show. We may ask to hear more from the same song. Men should come with a one-minute cutting of any song from any Andrew Lloyd Webber show including Evita. There are many ensemble parts in the show including featured dancers. If you are interested in a dance-only part, please so indicate on the audition form. Otherwise, those interested in ensemble may choose any song from any Andrew Lloyd Webber show or from any musical theatre show written after 1970.
Please bring sheet music of your song in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
To schedule an audition, complete and submit the audition form at www.citycircle.org. Once you submit the form, the producer will contact you with your appointment time. Walk-ins are always welcome, but those with appointments will take priority.
Evita will be performed February 14–16 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.
