SUMMER OF THE ARTS ANNOUNCES FREE MOVIE SERIES SCHEDULE
Summer of the Arts is presenting our Free Movie Series for its sixteenth year by bringing blockbuster hits, nostalgic throwbacks and family-friendly movies to the University of Iowa Pentacrest. This free series is kicking off on June 13th, 2020, with 2019’s Captain Marvel. We would like to extend a big thank you to our presenting sponsors and partners at Urban Acres Real Estate and GreenState Credit Union; this series would not be possible without them.
You’ll be able to find these movies playing on a huge, inflatable screen on the University of Iowa Pentacrest outside of Macbride Hall. The movies are diverse and span the entire summer, offering opportunities to catch contemporary favorites like Knives Out in July and classics like Space Jam in August. Our summer selection has it all: superheroes, sci-fi, Oscar nominated-films and silver screen sensations. New this year – the movie on June 27th will be shown in Hills, Iowa, in their City Park on Main Street!
Here is the complete 2020 line-up:
|June 13||Captain Marvel (2019)|
|June 20||The Monuments Men (2014)|
|June 27||Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse (2018) City Park, Hills, IA|

Pack up your lawn chairs and coziest blankets and spend your summer nights with us, and some of Hollywood’s best. These delightful viewings beneath the stars are all free of charge. Make sure to note that films begin at sundown, meaning start times vary as the days shorten throughout the summer. June movies will typically start around 9 PM. In case of inclement weather the festivities will be moved into the Phillips Hall Auditorium across the street from Macbride, with movies starting at 8:30 PM. If you’d like to find out more about our Free Movie Series, information is available at www.summeroftheARTS.org.
