Move It! Dig It! Do It! Drive Thru Truck Zoo @ Coral Ridge Mall
Oct 4 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Drive through our “Truck Zoo” in the Coral Ridge Mall parking lot to check out emergency vehicles, semi trucks, cool cars, and even a hot air balloon! Along the way, we’ll provide fun handouts and activities that you can complete right in your car.
Move it! Dig it! Do it! has always been a special day at The Iowa Children’s Museum, and we’re excited to bring it back (with a few new twists) in 2020. While the event will look a bit different from previous years, this new format also offers new ways for kids to learn, play, and discover!
Admission is FREE for all drive-thru outdoor activities. Admission inside The Iowa Children’s Museum will still require purchasing tickets online to maintain our “new ways of playing.” Visit theicm.org/tickets to learn more.

Stanley Creates: “Fluidity”-inspired paper marbling @ Online (registration required)
Oct 24 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Led by Lauren Linahon, art education masters student, UI College of Education

Stanley Creates is an interactive program for children and teens to learn artmaking techniques using everyday materials. Taking inspiration from the museum’s collection, participants will play with materials to create unique projects at home. Lauren Linahon will demonstrate the process and provide feedback and support to participants as they make their artwork.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to marble paper using materials found at home. Taking inspiration from the exhibition Fluidity, Linahon will guide kids through the process of creating colorful marble patterns on paper. She’ll also give participants ideas for how to use the marbled paper in other projects.

Lauren Linahon is a graduate student in art education. She has led artmaking workshops for United Action for Youth and taught studio sections of the course Create, Imagine, Play: Human Development through Arts at the University of Iowa.

Joseph Hall: ELVIS Rock N Remember @ Coralville Center for the Performing Arts
Feb 20 @ 7:00 pm

ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING! Joseph Hall is thrilled to present his Elvis Rock N Remember tribute show! This show celebrates the roots of Elvis, yet is a fast-paced concert that makes it difficult for you to stay in your seat. It caters to both the young and the young at heart. He’s got the look, the voice, the charm and the moves that take us back to a time when parents were flabbergasted by the flauntingly provocative hip action.

In Hall’s Elvis Rock N Remember show, he achieves a powerful flashback experience to the moment when fans fell in love with the talented, handsome, carefree, energetic, high-spirited young man that is Elvis Presley. The show is masterfully produced with a mixture of Elvis hits from rock n roll, country, pop to gospel, multiple costume changes and a heartfelt tribute to our veterans. He’s even got the teddy bears and scarves to woo the ladies. A must-see for all ages!

Joseph Hall, born in 1984, has been paying tribute to the legacy of Elvis Presley since 2006. He starred on NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2008, making 6 TV appearances, viewed by more than 90 million people and placing as one of the top 10 finalists! Sharon Osbourne impressed enough to tell him, “I’ve got shoes older than you, but I’d like to try you on!” Also, Piers Morgan quoted saying, “ELVIS IS BACK!” Joseph Hall has performed all over the world! Joseph Hall has won accolades throughout his young career including the “Spirit of Elvis ” award. Joseph Hall has worked with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Legends in Concert, and has officially been recognized as one of the top tribute artists in the world today. Hall says “My goal is to capture the essence of Elvis Presley, to pay tribute with the utmost respect to his legacy, his music, his image and above all else his fans.”

Tickets to this event are non-refundable.
