Set in the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s, The Call of the Wild was published serially in The Saturday Evening Post. The story follows Buck, who begins life as a domesticated pet dog. He is soon stolen and sold as the demand for sled dogs increases. We follow his experiences as he slowly becomes more and more wild in order to survive.
‘It’s a Mystery’ is a mystery book discussion group that has met at the Coralville Public Library for over twenty years. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am, and you are welcome to join in any time. Come when the book sounds good, or to every meeting.
Everyone is welcome to join the lively discussion!

In Alcott’s fictionalized America, a reclusive astronaut named Vincent Kahn was the first man to walk on the moon and an heiress turned violent revolutionary named Fay Fern dies in a demonstration about how the Apollo program is a distraction from the Vietnam War. Before all that, though, Vincent and Fay have an affair, and Fay has, unbeknownst to Vincent, a son, who grows up trying to find his father and understand his mother’s legacy.
