Genealogical Society of Linn County, Iowa

About

The Genealogical Society of Linn County, Iowa, was organized in 1965 with 16 members under the name Linn County Heritage Society. By 1994, membership had grown to over 300, and the organization’s name was officially changed to it’s present name to better reflect the aims and goals of the Society:
• promoting an interest in genealogy
• preserving Linn County records of cemeteries, churches, schools, courthouse documents, maps, and family histories, and maintaining a genealogical library.
The Society’s library is supported entirely through membership dues, monetary donations, and donations of genealogical materials. Donations, memorial gifts, or estate bequests made to our Society are tax deductible under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our library is staffed entirely by volunteers who perform a variety of leadership, operational, collection, outreach, promotional, educational, and research support services. We have no paid staff.
