SHENANIGANS: Animals in Charge! A Drive-in Theatre Experience @ Coralville Aquatics Center parking lot (behind City Hall)
Sep 25 @ 7:00 pm
Enjoy an evening of drive-in theatre with Shenanigans: Animals in Charge! The show opens with a parade-size Mother Earth as she introduces us to the zany antics of animals exploring venues that, under normal circumstances, humans dominate. But, as people around the world suspend their normal activities in the face of a world-wide pandemic, the animals take charge! The show transitions from large rod puppets in the early evening, to shadow puppets as the sun sets. From start to finish the puppets are accompanied by live music with original songs written just for this show.
Your family can enjoy this show from the comfort of your car at the Aquatics Center parking lot, located behind City Hall. Show sound will be broadcast to your car radio. Parking spaces are very limited, so make your reservation now! Free-will donations are welcome at the event, or as an online donation.
Audience members may get out of their cars to watch the performances as long as they remain in their designated parking space. Each group will be socially distanced from other patrons, and are required to wear a face mask if they exit their vehicle.
To make your reservation, or if you have any additional questions, contact Patrons Services Supervisor Nancy Mayfield at 319-248-9372, nmayfield@coralville.org.
The creation and performance of this fun, mad-cap tale is made possible through a generous grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.

by Brandon Thomas edited by Paul Thain

It’s set in an Oxford college in 1892.

Charles Wykeham uses the imminent arrival of his Brazilian aunt Donna Lucia as an opportunity to invite two young ladies to his rooms for tea.  But when Donna Lucia’s visit is postponed and they’re without a chaperone, rather than cancel the tea-party, Charles and Jack persuade their fellow student Lord Fancourt to impersonate the Aunt.  Lord Fancourt relishes the opportunity and particularly enjoys being kissed by the girls and sharing their confidences.  So much so, he stubbornly refuses to abandon his role

But then the real Donna Lucia turns up …

Joseph Hall: ELVIS Rock N Remember @ Coralville Center for the Performing Arts
Oct 24 @ 7:00 pm

ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING! Joseph Hall is thrilled to present his Elvis Rock N Remember tribute show! This show celebrates the roots of Elvis, yet is a fast-paced concert that makes it difficult for you to stay in your seat. It caters to both the young and the young at heart. He’s got the look, the voice, the charm and the moves that take us back to a time when parents were flabbergasted by the flauntingly provocative hip action.

In Hall’s Elvis Rock N Remember show, he achieves a powerful flashback experience to the moment when fans fell in love with the talented, handsome, carefree, energetic, high-spirited young man that is Elvis Presley. The show is masterfully produced with a mixture of Elvis hits from rock n roll, country, pop to gospel, multiple costume changes and a heartfelt tribute to our veterans. He’s even got the teddy bears and scarves to woo the ladies. A must-see for all ages!

Joseph Hall, born in 1984, has been paying tribute to the legacy of Elvis Presley since 2006. He starred on NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2008, making 6 TV appearances, viewed by more than 90 million people and placing as one of the top 10 finalists! Sharon Osbourne impressed enough to tell him, “I’ve got shoes older than you, but I’d like to try you on!” Also, Piers Morgan quoted saying, “ELVIS IS BACK!” Joseph Hall has performed all over the world! Joseph Hall has won accolades throughout his young career including the “Spirit of Elvis ” award. Joseph Hall has worked with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Legends in Concert, and has officially been recognized as one of the top tribute artists in the world today. Hall says “My goal is to capture the essence of Elvis Presley, to pay tribute with the utmost respect to his legacy, his music, his image and above all else his fans.”

Tickets to this event are non-refundable.
