Explore Oil Pastels with Kimberly Machovec-Smith @ Cedar Rapids Museum of Art

Explore the medium of oil pastels with artist Kimberly Machovec-Smith. Kimberly was first drawn to oil pastels because of their creamy texture, vibrant colors, and their user-friendly qualities. Oil pastels do not require solvents or mediums, there are no brushes to clean and no leaky tubes of paint. Learn which tools are helpful to have, how to effectively blend and layer colors, and how to help them set up when the image is complete. Materials will be provided. For ages 12 and up. A $15 materials fee is required, payable to the artist. Due to limited space, preregistration is required by Feb. 24th. Cellissimo and the Preucil School Cello Choir IN CONCERT @ University of Iowa School of Music's Voxman Recital Hall

Cellissimo is the senior performing cello ensemble from the joint schools of the Western Springs School of Talent Education and the Naperville Suzuki School. The group is co-directed by Sally Gross and Alex Revoal and is accompanied by Crystal Forbes.  Formed in 2009, the group’s first out of state performance was at the 2010 SAA Conference.  Since then, the group has performed extensively in the northern Illinois area as well as on tour to southwestern Ontario, Ottawa, Montreal and more locally to St. Louis and Madison/Milwaukee. Cellissimo performs a mixture of classical and pop repertoire in unison and ensemble formats, varying from original compositions to arrangements and ranging from two to eight parts.

Come hear a concert of diverse works performed by these premiere groups!
