State Historical Society: Goldie’s Kids Club Field Trips

By June 5, 2019 No Comments
School’s out! So bust out of the classroom and stretch your wings.
At least, that’s what I’ll be doing – and I hope you’ll come along. This summer, the State Historical Museum of Iowa invites you and all the other Goldie’s Kids Club members on special guided tours of a handful of fun museums across the state. We’ll get to see trains in Council Bluffs and masks in Iowa City and even some of the artifacts that inspired the Disney movie “Frozen” in Decorah.
The first field trip is this Saturday at the Bennett School House in West Des Moines. (But trust me: It’s different than most schools you’ve seen. It’s like the one your great-grandparents might have gone to when they were your age.) Advance registration is suggested so sign up today, OK?
Plus, Goldie’s Kids Club members are always welcome to tour my favorite Historic Sites and a fantastic Mobile Museum (in a big blue Winnebago!) and the State Historical Museum of Iowa in Des Moines. Remind your grown-ups that it’s free and open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, so stop by any time and see the exhibits, including the Hands-On History gallery just for kids.
Hope to see you soon!
This summer, join Goldie the Goldfinch’s adventure to the State Historical Museum of Iowa and several other museums across the state – all for free. Goldie’s Kids Club members will explore historic buildings, examine artifacts, and learn about Iowa’s fascinating history. Programs are for children 8-12 years old. Please register in advance.
