Local artist Fred Easker to present a lecture and book signing of works in his new book Connected to Place: Landscape Paintings
Sunday, January 20 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art
Cedar Rapids, Iowa— The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art invites you to a lecture and book signing by local artist Fred Easker of his new book “Connected to Place: Landscape Paintings.” A compilation of his extensive and exquisite work from the 1970’s to today, his book showcases his talent as a realistic painter primarily of the landscape. Fred Easker’s landscape paintings offer an extraordinary view into what is too often considered ordinary. Most often drawing on familiar sites in the backroads of his native Eastern Iowa, Easker paints from photographs he takes on “discovery” drives, but his finished images are more than painted photographs.
According to CRMA Executive Director Sean Ulmer, Easker “combines the majesty of the Hudson River School paintings with the smooth brushstrokes and interest in the effect of light upon the landscape of the Luminists…it is the light, when integrated into the landscape, that makes his compositions come to life.”
