Posted: 11/4/2013

The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance (ICCA) will hold its third annual Celebration of the Arts, presented by the Eastern Iowa Airport, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids Public Library, 450 Fifth Avenue SE. Celebration of the Arts is ICCA’s annual meeting event, intended to elevate the awareness of the artistic and cultural organizations in the Corridor and to celebrate the outstanding collaborations of ICCA partners.

The luncheon will feature a lively and entertaining presentation, America’s Creative Crossroads: Cultural Planning in the Midwest, by guest speaker Harlan Brownlee, President and CEO of ArtsKC, presented by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The program will include live entertainment, presentation of 2013 Collaborative and Reaching Out awards, and recognition of the 2013 Larry Eckholt and Cultural Advocate honorees.

Arts and culture organizations are nominated for the Collaborative and Reaching Out honors and the ICCA partner organizations vote on the ballot. The organization who receives the highest number of votes receives the honor and a Celebration of the Arts statue, created by local artist Tom Newport. The winners will be announced during the event.

Additionally Larry Eckholt Award and Peggy Whitworth Arts and Cultural Advocacy Award honors will be given out to community members who have exemplified passion, commitment, and advocacy to the cultural vitality of the Corridor. The 2013 recipients are Josh Schamberger, Larry Eckholt Award; and Terry Pitts, Peggy Whitworth Award.

The ICCA Celebration of the Arts is open to the community. Registration is required by Tuesday, November 5. Tickets are $25 for individuals or $200 for a table of eight. To attend, please register online at or call 319.849.8ART (8278).
