ICCA to Hold Third Annual Celebration of the Arts
Posted: 10/8/2013

The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance (ICCA) will hold its third annual Celebration of the Arts, presented by the Eastern Iowa Airport, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids Public Library, 450 Fifth Avenue SE.

The luncheon will feature a lively and entertaining presentation, America’s Creative Crossroads: Cultural Planning in the Midwest, by guest speaker Harlan Brownlee, President and CEO of ArtsKC, presented by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The program will include live entertainment, presentation of 2013 Collaborative and Reaching Out awards, and recognition of the 2013 Larry Eckholt and Cultural Advocate honorees.

Celebration of the Arts is ICCA’s annual meeting event, intended to elevate the awareness of the artistic and cultural organizations in the Corridor and to celebrate the outstanding collaborations of ICCA partners. All ICCA partners, business partners, friends, and community members are invited to attend.

“We’re very pleased to offer ICCA partners and the community in Iowa’s Creative Corridor the opportunity to come together to celebrate their shared success,” said Jessica Johnson, ICCA’s executive director. “The arts serve to create a vibrant, thriving community and there is an ever-increasing need to strengthen awareness and appreciation for the quality of life they create in our region.”

Partner organizations are nominated for the Collaborative and Reaching Out honors and the ICCA partnership votes on the ballot. The organization who receives the highest number of votes receives the honor and a Celebration of the Arts statue, crafted by local artist Tom Newport. The winners will be announced during the event.

Additionally, Larry Eckholt Award and Cultural Advocate Award honors will be given out to community members who have exemplified passion, commitment, and advocacy to the cultural vitality of the Corridor.

The ICCA Celebration of the Arts is open to the community. Tickets are $25 for individuals or $200 for a table of eight. To attend, please register online at or call 319.849.8ART (8278) by Tuesday, November 5.

Celebration of the Arts is sponsored by the Eastern Iowa Airport. The keynote presentation by guest speaker Harlan Brownlee is sponsored by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
