Using a laser-based technology for 3D scanning known as “LiDAR” (Light Imaging Detection and Ranging), the University of Iowa’s Adam Skibbe (Department of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences) and Michelle Wienhold (Iowa Flood Center) have traveled around Iowa mapping many historic and cultural resources, but perhaps none is more interesting than the historic beer caves located underneath Iowa City’s Northside district.
Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa’s (JAEI) Annual Taste of Achievement event allows participants to escape into an evening of fine wines, specialty beers, and hors d’oeuvres while bidding on silent and live auction items. Participants enjoy the ambiance of custom jewelry, dueling pianos, and great company.
An online auction opens prior to the event with bidding concluding at the live event. Auction items range from local gift certificates to lavish vacation packages.
