People of all ages are invited to join us for the
first meetings of the Senior Center’s Aging in
Film Club. At each meeting, we’ll watch a film
and follow it with a discussion, exploring how
aging issues and older adults are represented in
popular films.
This spring, we’ll draw selections from The
Center’s Classic Film Fridays series, which
is currently progressing through Academy
Award Best Picture winners in chronological
order. We’ll examine two semi-recent films
that feature themes of aging and older adult
characters: American Beauty on February 22 and
Million Dollar Baby on March 29. Among other
questions, we’ll ask how well these two films
have aged, themselves.
The Senior Center’s Aging in Film Club is
presented in partnership with the University of
Iowa Aging and Longevity Studies Program.
