Comprised of about 70 students, Concert Choir is Cornell’s large choral ensemble. Chamber Singers is an advanced ensemble of 24 singers selected from the top ranks of Concert Choir. The choirs are led by Dr. Lisa Hearne. Repertoire includes madrigals, vocal jazz, spirituals, motets, and advanced literature from all style periods. Special focus is on works by contemporary composers such as Eric Whitacre and Eleanor Daley.
The orchestra averages 35-50 students and performs music from early Baroque to the most recent publications for both full and chamber orchestra. The group has performed symphonies by Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Prokofiev, as well as overtures and incidental music by the major composers for this ensemble.
