This Is My Brave The Corridor

Saturday, April 22, 2017; 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Kirkwood Community College, Ballantyne Auditorium

The Brave Voices of Mental Illness
It could be you, your neighbor, your spouse, best friend or even the cashier at the local Target. Nearly one in five Americans suffers from a mental health issue every year according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Kirkwood Community College is proud to bring This Is My Brave, The Show, to The Corridor for the third year in a row. The show helps bring awareness and a voice to those affected by mental illness.
Founded in 2013 by Jennifer Marshall, author of the successful Bipolar Mom Life blog, and Anne Marie Ames, the This is My Brave –The Show is a live presentation of touching personal essays, original music, and poetry performed by local individuals living with―or loving someone with―a mental illness. The power of the human connection through the telling of personal experiences will grab hold of the audience.
The Corridor Team consists of Brook Easton, Lisa Baum and Active Minds Club Students and Club Advisors, Angie Ziesman Weiler and Julie Prasil. “We want to share personal stories, and help put a spotlight on mental health issues in The Corridor.”

The mission of the non-profit organization is to ignite and advance a positive national conversation about mental illness by and for those who are touched by it, one story at a time.
The Cedar Rapids show will take place on April 22 at 7pm in Ballantyne Auditorium on the Kirkwood Community College Main Campus located at 6301 Kirkwood Blvd. SW. Parking can be found taking the South Entrance into Kirkwood’s Campus, (Tower Road) then turning left into Kirkwood’s Mansfield Center. Tickets are now on sale for $15 general admission and $12 for students. You can order tickets by going to, www.thisismybrave.org and clicking on Events OR texting KIRKBRAVE to 41444.
