  Family Folk Machine

Sunday, April 30, 2017; 3:00 PM
Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center

The Family Folk Machine is an intergenerational choir that seeks to build a strong community by singing and playing music with our neighbors, exploring American history and culture through song, fostering individual musical growth, and pursuing excellence as an ensemble. We are a non-auditioned choir that performs with a folk band, and we welcome anyone who wants to sing. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 3-5 at the Senior Center. Rehearsals for our Spring 2017 session will begin on January 8.

The FFM is in the middle of a project called “Wasn’t That a Time?” sponsored by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council. This January and February, we will write songs under the guidance of local band the Awful Purdies. Some of the new songs will be featured in our spring concerts. We’ll perform a concert Sunday, April 30 at the Senior Center, and we’ll perform with the Awful Purdies at the Iowa Arts Festival on June 3.
